The main skills required for effective and efficient work by Analytics professionals are: |

Persons opting for the analytical industry must be able to provide analytical support to the research team and be prepared to contribute to consulting projects covering the concerned industry. |
|
The person should be able to create and maintain databases for the regulations, projects, generation, transmission, supply and demand models and data. They should be able to initiate research and write reports; and provide team and individual expertise on issues affecting the subject. Relational database experience and data analysis skills would be a plus.
Effective writing and presentation skills
The person needs to convey the summary of the subject/concept; hence a communicative writing style that is easy and concise is essential. Much of the work involves teasing out underlying trends and hidden insights from data and numeric analysis – and being able to understand the technical aspects of energy markets and translating those into qualitative concepts and analysis.
Excellent computer skills
Strong skill and competence in software applications and database management are required. Strong Excel skills, with experience using functions and macros are a plus.

An affinity for data, well-developed multi-tasking skills in a fast paced environment, good interpersonal and time management skills, ability to think broadly and conceptually, interpersonal skills to contribute to team work and a potential for client-focused consulting are desirable.
Additional skills
Self-starters with flexibility to handle multiple complex projects with aggressive deadlines and competing priorities would have an edge.
